For the fifth time, after Berlin, Paris and Zurich, ILLUSTRATIVE 09 started this weekend again in Berlin. ILLUSTRATIVE is the leading international forum for contemporary illustration and graphic arts. Over the course of two weeks, the festival celebrates the illustrative arts, presents new talents and trends, exchanges ideas, marvels at progressive technologies, and rediscovers forgotten styles. ILLUSTRATIVE features an exclusive exhibition and shows works from 60 internationally recognised illustrators in addition to hosting conferences, a film program, and parties. Illustrative displays not only the quality and fantasy of the latest graphic arts but also shows how the visual effects of graphic design, illustration, book art, comics, concept art, and animation spill into and influence the field of art. The exhibition is accompanied by the Swatch Young Illustrators Award. The exhibition highlighting the contest winners displays the most intuitive inclinations of the genre and is an exciting measure for new trends.

Nachdem Beck’s mit dem Designwettbewerb "Becks it" sowie der Beck’s Fashion Experience bereits in der Vergangenheit sehr erfolgreich einzelne Disziplinen des urbanen Lifestyle protegiert hat, baut die Marke mit der neuen Beck’s Gold Urban Experiences-Plattform ihren angestammten Platz im urbanen Umfeld konsequent aus.

Nach Paris und Zürich kommt die ILLUSTRATIVE 2009 nach Berlin zurück und feiert zum fünften Mal in Folge vom 16. Oktober – 1. November 2009 die spannendsten Positionen der aktuellen graphischen Kunst. Das Spektrum reicht von Zeichnungen, Druckgrafiken und Malerei bis hin zu monumentalen Wandcollagen, grafisch inspirierten 3D-Installationen, Buchkunst und Animationsfilmen. Mit den Arbeiten von mehr als 60 Künstlern aus aller Welt versammelt die ILLUSTRATIVE in der Villa Elisabeth in Berlin-Mitte wieder eine inspirierende Dichte an visueller Gegenwartskultur.

Anlässlich der Kunstmessen in Berlin veranstalten die GALERIEN BERLIN MITTE ihr Open Weekend. Die teilnehmenden Galerien öffnen am Freitag und Samstag von 12 bis 20 Uhr und am Sonntag von 12 bis 18 Uhr.

Mehr als 27 Galerien in Berlin Mitte starten am 4. September 2009 mit Ausstellungseröffnungen oder verlängerten Öffnungszeiten in die neue Saison.
